Gifts from the Garden by Debora Robertson

The author of Gifts from the Garden, Debora Robertson is the associate food editor of RED magazine and works for the chef Hugh Fearnley- Whittingstall at River Cottage.

Gifts from the Garden is Debora's latest book published last year by Kyle Books. It is beautifully presented and has beautiful photographs taken by Yuki Sugiura.

It is a collection of 100 projects using plants and produce that can be grown in your garden and given as gifts. The book covers simple advice on how to grow things in pots and in the garden, how to avoid moths, how to dry flowers and lots of ideas on how to pack up your presents with ribbons and gift tags.

Among the many food projects you can pick from carrot cake, almond and lemon scented biscuits; herbal teas and bouquet garni; lavender wine jelly and chilli jam as well as two little projects for your pets.

Many of the gift ideas are for things to use in the home - lavender ironing spray, fragrant fire-lighters, scented wax polish and how to decorate candles with dried flowers and leaves.

There is a recipe for parsley  dog biscuits - well parsley is suppose to sweeten the breath - Rex the dog is patiently waiting for his treat.

There are also gift ideas for making mint soap, rosemary hair oil, lavender bath salt, rose hand cream and lots of other lotions and potions for hair, face and body.

I love this photograph of the cat holding a fabric mouse filled with catmint. Obviously a very happy cat!!

Debora also writes a blog called Love and a Licked Spoon.

All the lovely ribbons are from Jane Means - my favourite ribbon lady!

I hope you enjoyed my little review of Gifts from the Garden.

Thanks for visiting and making lovely comments.

See you back here soon.
