"Hyacinths - These fragrant spring bulbs are easily forced even when indoors, and their bright white roots look stunning when displayed in clear glass. Individual blossoms can also be cut from the stems and strung for a petite garland. Select stalks with buds that are still tightly closed; they are lovely to watch and smell as they open. Beware their slippery sap - it can cause skin irritation and may be poisonous to other flowers."
